Poliakoff landed a stint in CNN's newsroom right out of journalism school, where he interviewed celebrity guests before they appeared on "Larry King Live." While it was thrilling to interview Mike Tyson after his release from prison, Poliakoff — a native Floridian — quickly found his way back to Miami.
Poliakoff landed a spot on WTVJ-TV's South Florida investigative team, a role that routinely got his news team thrown out of establishments they were investigating.
His interest in law grew from a simple question: "Legally, do we as journalists, have the right to be in certain locations?"
